Bannerghatta National Park Butterfly Sanctuary
A netted butterfly enclosure inside Bannerghatta's 260 sq km protected forest on Bengaluru's southern edge — the closest wildlife stop on the passport trail to the state capital.
Bannerghatta National Park was established in 1971 and sits just south of Bengaluru, making it the most accessible wildlife destination on the Philately Passport trail for visitors based in the capital. Beyond its forest tracts — part of the wider Bannerghatta-Male Mahadeshwara Hills elephant corridor — the park complex includes a biological park, a crocodile farm, a butterfly enclosure, and dedicated rescue and rehabilitation centres for elephants and tigers.
Getting there: Bannerghatta is about an hour’s drive south of central Bengaluru via Bannerghatta Road. The Bannerghatta Sub Post Office serves the small town adjoining the park’s main entrance.
