Beaulieu Heritage Mansion
A colonial-era heritage mansion in Bengaluru's civic core, standing amid the cluster of nineteenth- and twentieth-century public buildings that line Ambedkar Veedhi near the seat of Karnataka's government.
Ambedkar Veedhi sits at the administrative heart of Bengaluru, a short stretch of road flanked by Cubbon Park, the Vidhana Soudha, and a run of institutional buildings raised under British and early post-Independence rule. The Beaulieu Heritage Mansion belongs to this layer of the city’s built history — a residence-turned-landmark from the era when Bengaluru’s elite built garden bungalows and mansions along the roads radiating out from the Cantonment and Pete.
Structures of this kind, often named after English country houses by their original owners, are among the last physical traces of Bengaluru’s transition from a garrison and market town into a modern state capital. Many such mansions have since been absorbed into institutional or commercial use, making the ones that survive with their character intact valuable markers of the city’s layered architectural past.
Getting there: The mansion lies within easy walking distance of the Ambedkar Veedhi Post Office, itself close to Cubbon Park and the Vidhana Soudha in central Bengaluru.
