Siddheshwara Temple
A well-preserved 12th-century Kalyani Chalukya-era Shiva temple in Haveri town, notable for its stellate plan and finely lathe-turned pillars typical of the region's temple architecture.
The Siddheshwara Temple in Haveri dates to the 12th century, built under the patronage of the Kalyani (Western) Chalukyas whose builders left a dense trail of temple architecture across the Malaprabha-Tungabhadra doab region that includes Haveri, Gadag, and Lakkundi. Its star-shaped (stellate) sanctum plan, ornately turned pillars, and finely carved ceiling medallions place it firmly within this regional idiom, on a scale more intimate than the grander Chalukya sites nearby.
Still an active place of Shiva worship, the temple anchors Haveri’s old town core and is one of several historic shrines — alongside the Someshwara and other temples in the district — that mark this stretch of the Tungabhadra basin as a significant, if less-visited, seam of Deccan temple heritage.
Getting there: The temple is in central Haveri town, a short distance from the Haveri Head Post Office on P.B. Road.
